I know that most of us are trying to take extra care of our wellbeing right now. For me, lock down has been a fine balancing act of sticking to a ‘normal’ routine at home to ensure that my mind and body stay healthy yet allowing myself to relax without feeling guilty when my weekends aren’t always productive.

This book is part interactive journal and part step-by-step guide using life-coaching techniques, easy activities and practical tasks. I like the no-nonsense guidance in this one and it nudges you to dig a bit deeper and address some potential underlying issues that could be subconsciously causing you problems.

With visualisation exercises, goal setting and space for journaling, it’s like having your own little cheerleader on the coffee table and one that I’ve taken to reading almost every day to give me a boost when I’m struggling. I’ll be buying a few more copies of this one to give to my girls and like-minded friends.

The Easy Life by ITV’s Queen of Clean Lynsey Crombie

Cleaning influencers have certainly seen a rise in popularity and Lynsey is up there with some of the best in the industry. She spent years working as a professional cleaner, is now enjoying fame as an Instagram icon and her book focuses on an easy to follow ‘clean regime’ for every season of the year, containing multiple interactive ’smart lists’, tables and charts.

Again, this is also an activity book to help you set realistic goals and I like the way it’s not preachy; it addresses the fact that most of us are already juggling far too much and doesn’t make you feel bad for not being a domestic god/ess.  Lynsey shares the point throughout that housework and chores should never fall on just one person in the household and gives advice on how to get everyone involved.

The tips in this book are genuinely useful and it not only focuses on the act of cleaning but showcases recipes for homemade cleaning products minus the chemicals that many shop-bought ones contain, tips on how to reduce plastic waste in the home, ideas for Christmas festivities, planning summer holidays and just about everything inbetween.

    I wrote a whole self care guide for our staff (I work in HR) so I try to stick to that – good diet, regular exercise, alone time when I need it, forcing myself to be sociable as I love it when I get there, hobbies and adding in plenty of fun stuff to stop life getting stale – even if it’s just buying a different brand or style!

    I need to run every day or I go into panic mode. I also need to read eat well and get plenty of sleep.

    My top tip is to watch less news, do more things you love, eat a rainbow choice of food every day, and meditation before bedtime helps to sleep better.

    Remembering that every day is a new start and the kids will not notice if the house is tidy but they will remember the time you spend with them. This has made me appreciate what’s important in life rather than stressing over silly things that don’t matter as much. In short, nobody’s perfect and don’t be so hard on yourself by compare yourself to others.

    I try to have a relaxing bath, use lavender oil (loving Neom) a good book. I sometimes use the app Calm. Stsrt and end the day with a positive thought.
