Easy Chocolate Mug Cake Microwave Recipe Lisa Valentine Blogs

Baking is something that I thoroughly enjoy doing; I find it cathartic and obviously, there isn’t much that beats snacking on homemade cake with a big mug of tea now, is there? However, sometimes I can’t be bothered with the washing up and just want a quick cakey fix. That’s when my trusty mug cake recipe comes in handy! Perfect for a little January pick-me-up.

Chocolate Mug Cake Recipe – Serves 1


3tbsp self-raising flour

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 egg

2 tbsp milk chocolate chips

2 tbsp milk

2 tbsp chocolate hazelnut spread of choice

1 tbsp sunflower or vegetable oil


1 – Add sugar, flour and egg to mug and mix

2 – Add milk, oil, chocolate chips and chocolate hazelnut spread

3 – Mix well until all ingredients are combined

4 – Microwave on high for 2 minutes (depending on power, keep checking to ensure it doesn’t overflow)

5 – Tuck in

    Ooh this is like a hot chocolate you can eat! I’d be even more indulgent and add cream and marshmallows to mine for the full effect. Love that mug cakes don’t make a mountain of washing up.
